4:47 pm - I just noticed

daver2323
...

I'm still on the Finchleynotgoth LJ community, three years on.
And here I am moving back in less than a month - odd.

So, hey. Are people's still doing the monthly pub meet in North Finchley or have we
all settled down and had kids? :-)

ETA - 23 days!

12:40 am - Save The Intrepid Fox Site!

angusabranson
A friend of mine (silver_blue) has started up a Save The Intrepid Fox page with links and addresses to people, organisations and companies that you can contact to complain about the pending closure of The Intrepid Fox.

Anyone who would like to see this alternative landmark in London preserved should write to these people and make their voice heard!

12:04 pm - Rock n Roll in Barnet

exmoor_cat
Church Farmhouse museum intends to mount a major exhibitionin summer 2006 on the story of Rock and Pop music in Barnet Borough.

Musicians as different as Toyah Wilcox, Long John Baldrey, the Spice Girls, and Oasis, have, at various times,, lived in our area, and the borough has contained some significant venues, for instance the TOrrington Arms in North FInchley in the early das of Punk and New Wave and the LMS pub, Hendon, for Psychobilly in the late 1980's.

Museum staff are keen to hear from anyone who has information on popular music in the borough, and relevant material which they would be prepared to lend to the exhibition. (All contributions will of course be acknowledged).

Please phone the curator on 0208 203 0130 or email him at gerrard.roots@barnet.gov.uk

10:10 pm - Urgent Sky Owners Request

angusabranson
If anyone has Sky and a blank video please could you record the Redemption program currently on the Musicians Channel (475)?

They are going to be showing some live footage of sinbadsilk and Voices of Masada from their Underworld gig a while back but Sin hasn't got Sky and didn't realise it was on until I just rang him.

I don't have any videos :(

It would be most appreciated and you will be refunded the price of a blank video plus postage (if neccessary).

12:44 pm - ANIMOSITY, Saturday 26 November @ Belushi's Camden Town

ex_lostprop
London's hottest rock and alternative night hits Camden every Saturday.

Open from 8pm to 2am, we'll bring you six hours of the best rock and alternative sounds to be found in the capital! And, with what are by far some of the best prices to be found in Camden, and plenty of excellent drink deals (such as the infamous Vodka Twistee and B52 shots for £1 and 2-4-1 Vodka Cruisers until 10pm) why the hell would you be wanting to spend your Saturday nights anywhere else?

This week DJs Rex (TURBULENT SOUNDSCAPE) and Markus M (CODE RED) will be tearing up the decks with your favourite tunes, featuring bands such as White Zombie, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Skid Row, Kid Rock, Everlast, Soil, Rammstein, Metallica, Godsmack, Life Of Agony, Killswitch Engage, Audioslave, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, Faith No More, Therapy?, Nine Inch Nails, The Used, Prodigy, Tenacious D, My Chemical Romance, Every Time I Die, Lostprophets, Avenged Sevenfold, Snot, Sevendust, American Headcharge, Korn, Disturbed, Megadeth, AC/DC, Queensryche, Van Halen, Green Day, Bloodhound Gang, Guns N Roses, Rage Against The Machine, Soundgarden, Tool, Funeral For A Friend, Feeder, Boy Sets Fire, Trivium, Machine Head, Fear Factory, Lynard Skynard, Slayer, Clutch, Stuck Mojo, Deftones, Slipknot, Black Sabbath, Static X, Iron Maiden, Fall Out Boy, Velvet Revolver, System Of A Down, Mudvayne, Monster Magnet and many many more....

Doors open at 8pm, and this week you can get in free before 9pm, or for just £2 thereafter!

HOW TO GET THERE:
Belushi's is situated on Camden High Street, about half way between Camden Town and Mornington Crescent tube stations which are both on the Northern Line.

From Camden Town Tube Station:
Exit the station on the high street side and turn left. Walk straight on down the high street in the direction of Euston & Mornington Crescent. You should see Belushi's on the left hand side of the road.

From Mornington Crescent Tube Station:
Exit the station and turn right. Walk straight on up the high street a short distance and you should see Belushi's on your right.

Animosity, tomorrow nightCollapse )

10:38 pm - Me

jonny_eol
I've just stumbled upon this community - thought I'd better make my presence felt. I'm currently living between East Barnet, New Barnet and Cockfosters, and I'm about as goth as everyone else here (make of that what you will). Regular gig-goer, increasingly seen at the European festivals (M'era Luna, WGT), occasional at clubs like Slimelight, Strength Through Joy and Synthetic Culture (going off that last one, though). I occasionally indulge in the occasional RPG, too.

I'm best known online for a being a self-appointed 'dark scene' critic/biographer/information gatherer. I don't know what I'm best known for in real life, but if you hear any rumours, let me know so I can confirm/deny whatever's being said about me.

BTW, despite my increasing familiarity with the various Barnets, I'm not au fait with Finchley (which is probably why it's taken me 6 months to sign up). Am I missing anything?

3:50 pm - Barnet not-Goth advice needed...
_kinaesthesia_ Hiya, new to the community and just wondering if any of you can give me some advice. I'm STRANDED in the depths of quite-near-to Barnet and was wondering if there are any pubs / bars / dark corners where Barnet/Finchley metallers/rockers/punks/alt.rock individuals hang out?

Barnet just seems OVER-RUN with chav-types, it's hard to imagine there could be a sacred space for us lot out there. Any ideas?
